Meet Hitler’s careers. Review of the book “On …
The fall of the Third Reich in 1945 and the capture of many prominent politicians, military and NSDAP activists, who first created and then implemented the Nazi war machine and genocide, enabled to judge in Nuremberg such criminals as: Herman Göring, Wilhelm Keitel, Hans Frank, Joachim von Ribbentrop Kaltenbrunner. However, many of the high -ranking Nazi dignitaries and Wehrmacht and SS officers not only avoided Stryczka, but had important functions in countries that led to the fall of the Third Reich. For many of them, the new homeland was also South American countries, such as Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Paraguay, where they used their experience, knowledge and acquaintance to serve the local military regimes. About who the Nazis were, who built the power of world intelligence agencies such as: CIA, KGB and Mossad, and why so easily the victorious countries of the anti -Hitler coalition forgot about their guilt and crimes, we will learn thanks to the publication “Nazis after the war. The careers of Hitler’s people.” In it, the Israeli historian Danny Orbach describes the story of, among others: Reinhard Gehlen, the last head of Frembe Heere Ost, Alois Brunner and Otto Skornny.
Danny Orbach, describing the story of the Nazis, who after World War II decided to serve other governments, does not hide that both side had an interest in this. This is clearly seen in the example of General Reinhard Gehlen, about whom Orbach writes:
“General Reinhard Gehlen, an interview ace, which was entrusted with preparing the Alpine Fortress, had other plans. A slim officer with steel eyes was also interested in survival, but he did not want to survive national socialism, but about surviving his himself, his personal power and nation – in this order. “
Gehlen, who gave in to the Americans, was aware that his knowledge of his knowledge would certainly be valuable for American intelligence and was not mistaken. By revealing the Americans all the knowledge of the Red Army, German operations on the Eastern Front and agents who acted for him during World War II, not only saved his life, but over the years Gehlen and his organization contributed to the creation of the secret service of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Danny Orbach also devotes a lot of space to Otto Skornny, who resorted to Spain after World War II. There he settled in Madrid, where he led interests that allowed him to live prosperously. He traveled to Italy and Argentina, where he was received with great respect by Peron. He also made secret contacts with the Israeli intelligence Mossad, to whom he gave information about the Egyptian rocket program, but also with the former head of Hitler’s intelligence on the Eastern Front – General Reinhard Gehlen, who worked for the CIA.
In the publication, in addition to well -known names such as Gehlen or Skorna, there is also the story of one of the most die -hard criminals – Alois Brunner. This diligent and extremely brutal performer of criminal policy, as well as a collaborator of Adolf Eichmann, was responsible in the first months of 1942 for shipping to death from his hometown of thousands of Jews. Like the other war criminals, he also managed to escape from Europe and settle in the Middle East in Syria. The Israeli intelligence tried to attack Brunner’s life, but explosives sent to him twice caused only the loss of eye and fingers on his left hand. Dr. Alois Brunner, hiding in the Middle East, did not have to worry about anything. Behind Brunner, arrest warrants were issued in six European countries: Germany, Austria, France, Slovakia, Greece and Poland. All in vain. Alois Brunner never responded for his crimes.

However, these are not all the characters he mentions in his book by Danny Orbach. The author also mentions such Nazi fugitives as: Klaus Barbie, who after the war worked for American and British intelligence, Heinz Felfe – the main spy of the Soviet Union in Germany, Ludwig Albert – one of the most important officials dealing with the investigation of the Red Orchestra, which went to the Soviets or Walter Rouff. As one of the zealous creators of the “final solution of the Jewish issue”, he developed the concept of car gas chambers, he was one of the main initiators of extermination of over 2.5 thousand Jews in Tunisia and as the head of the Gestapo and SD in the north-eastern Italy in 1943 he committed many crimes. Although he was captured by the British, he managed to escape thanks to the help of the Pronazist bishop Alois Hudal. He stayed, among others, in Syria, Lebanon, Italy and later in Chile.
The presentation of such insightful facts by an Israeli historian would not be possible without analyzing the previously unknown documents of secret services, which showed the entire mechanism of intelligence struggle, but also Nazi influences also after World War II. Danny Orbach in the book “Nazis after the war. The careers of Hitler’s people” once again confirmed that after 1945, the interview: Soviet, American, British, but also the forming interview with Germany and Mossad used the knowledge and experience of Nazi dignitaries, criminals and SS officers who want to avoid justice. recent enemies. This book also shows us how brutal reality is and, how in vain the families of the victims waited for justice, often believing in the false statements of governments about the lack of knowledge about prosecuted criminals or false information about their death. Until the end, they hoped that the Nazi criminals responsible for the crimes of the criminals would not be a well -deserved punishment. In fact, many of them lived to have a quiet old age …
