(RTTNews) – The Teamsters announced Sunday that their people at Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) across the U.S. overwhelmingly approved the strike by an 85 percent margin.
The choice stems from the company’s continued inability to negotiate constructively and its refusal to deliver a stunning contract offer in line with its record breaking earnings. The Costco Teamsters Nationwide master agreement, which covers an additional 18,000 Costco workers, has decided to expire on January 31, the union said in a post on X.
“From day one, we enjoy knowing Costco that our people could not work a single day after January 31st without a historic, major trade settlement. Costco’s committed leaders enjoy less than two weeks to create a nascent thing. In the event that they refuse, they can enjoy having no one to answer but themselves when our people go on strike,” President Sean M. O’Brien said of Teamsters Traditional.
